TOXIN-FREE CLEANING
What is dry cleaning?Dry cleaning is the process of cleaning clothing with a solvent other than water, hence the term “dry”. Traditionally, dry cleaning has been performed using a chemical called perchloroethylene or “perc”. In perc-based dry cleaning, clothes are placed in a large machine resembling a washing machine, soaked in perc and detergent, and then heat dried. While effective at removing oil-based and other stains, perc is a known carcinogen and ground water contaminant.
Do you use Perc in your cleaning?No. At Mulberrys, our award-winning dry cleaning and stain removal experts use pressurized, naturally occurring C02, the same thing soda-makers use to carbonate beverages. The use of odorless C02 enables us to return your clothes cleaner and without the chemical smell. Also, because no heat is used, your clothes are finished without the fading, shrinking, pilling or stain-setting common to all other dry cleaning methods.
We are the only CO2 cleaner in the State of Minnesota and we’re proud of it!
How are you different from other “environmentally-friendly” cleaners?Other so-called “environmentally-friendly” cleaners use a chemical called siloxane to clean your clothes. While not as harmful as Perc, siloxane is a toxin and is known to cause cancer in lab rats and liver failure in humans.
Mulberrys uses 100% natural, recycled CO2 similar to what you would find in carbonated beverages.
But isn't CO2 a greenhouse gas?We use recycled CO2, and recapture unused CO2, so no new CO2 is released as a result of our processes. We also actively work to combat global warming by investing in projects to reduce CO2 emissions in our community.
How does Liquid CO2 cleaning work?Liquid CO2 Cleaning isn’t nearly as complicated as it sounds. First, we place your clothes into the CO2 machine, which resembles a gigantic washing machine. Then, in addition to biodegradable detergent, recycled natural CO2 is released into the drum of the machine. At this point, the drum is pressurized, and when the CO2 comes under pressure it converts from a gas to a liquid. The clothes are then cleaned in the CO2 liquid multiple times, and finally the pressure and gas are released. Because the CO2 naturally evaporates, no heat is needed and your clothes come out of the machine cool and clean.
Is CO2 cleaning as effective as other methods?Yes. In fact, Mulberrys’ proprietary CO2 system is the most effective cleaning method available according to the Delta Whiteness Index.
RECYCLED HANGERS
Why do you use wooden hangers?At Mulberrys we care about the quality of your garments. Wooden hangers hold the form of your shirts and suits far better than wire hangers.
We also care deeply about our natural environment. By asking our customers to return hangers, we reduce the massive amounts of aluminum waste associated with traditional dry cleaners.
How do I return my hangers to Mulberrys?When you’re done using your hangers, just toss them into your Mulberrys express bag with your garments and we’ll take care of the rest. You can buy our Mulberry hangers for a $1 each.
DELIVERY
Where do you pick up and drop off my clothes?You choose the location you'd like our courteous drivers to service. It's best if you choose a weather-sheltered location.
What type of bag do I use to put my clothes in for pick-up?When you sign up for delivery service your driver will provide you with a Mulberrys express bag free of charge.
Do I have to be there when the drop-off or pick-up is made?No. There is no need to be home to use the service. Your driver will service your pre-designated location.
How do I pay for your service?Your cleaning will be charged to your credit card.
How will I know my scheduled drop-off and pick-up days?Upon sign-up, you will receive via email a confirmation of your start date.
How do I tell Mulberrys about a special request/issue with my garments?Simply complete one of the special instructions forms provided in your welcome kit and describe any special requests or instructions. If you’re out of forms you can print out additional forms here.
My office/apartment building is serviced by Mulberrys - how do I start using your service?Signing up is easy to do through your office or apartment building contact person. They will give you a form to fill in and include with your first order as well as a Mulberrys express bag.
How will I know when my order is ready?Mulberrys will send you an e-mail when your order is complete. You can also check the status of your order on our website under Order Tracking.
Mulberrys Policies
In order to better serve you and your garment care needs, Mulberrys would like to outline our policies regarding the potential risks associated with dry cleaning.
Despite our best efforts to return your garments to you in excellent condition, in certain rare instances, issues can arise. In addressing these issues, Mulberrys reserves the right to use the policies outlined below.
MANUFACTURER ERRORS
- According to the Federal Trade Commission’s Care Labeling Law, manufacturers are required to apply accurate care instructions on every garment produced. In the rare instances that a garment is damaged as a result of inaccurate care labeling, the manufacturer will be held responsible. To assist you in obtaining compensation from the manufacturer, Mulberrys will issue a letter summarizing the manufacturer’s error and responsibilities under law and place a $25 dollar cash credit on your account for the inconvenience.
LOST OR DAMAGED ITEMS
- In the rare event that Mulberrys loses or damages a garment due to operational error, we will fully reimburse you for the loss. We ask for a two-week grace period to search our inventory prior to issuing payment. Reimbursement will be based on a national standard called the Fair Claims Guide, which takes into account the age and original purchase price of the garment. Depending on your preference, Mulberrys will issue a check for the Fair Claims value or place a credit on your account for 125% of the Fair Claims value.
- If a lost item is found, Mulberrys will compensate you for the inconvenience by maintaining the cash credit and providing you with a check for 10% of the value of the garment. However, we do ask that you return the previously issued funds.
- Mulberrys must be informed of additional issues within one week of pickup to commence claim process.
LATE PICK-UP
- If you are unable to pick up your order within 30 days, Mulberrys will call you to inform you that your order is complete. After 45 days your account will be charged for the value of services provided.
- Due to space constraints, Mulberrys cannot hold orders in our store longer than 90 days. After 90 days, orders will be moved to storage. Upon moving orders to storage, a $9.99 fee will be added to the orders. This is a reoccurring fee, that will appear monthly to cover the cost of storage. After 12 months, Mulberrys will donate such garments to local charities.
